Southwest Jiaotong University successfully held the 9th International Conference on Fire Science and Fire Protection Engineering

9th International Conference on Fire Science and Fire Protection Engineering, sponsored by Southwest Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology of China, Sun Yat-sen University and IEEE, was held in Chengdu Disheng hotel from October 18 to 20. More than 300 experts and scholars from China, Britain, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, India and Malaysia attended the conference. Students from SWJTU-OSU Safety Science and Engineering project participated in this conference.

The conference has been successfully held in Hong Kong, Taipei, Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing and other places for eight times, and has an important influence in the world. The conference was organized by Southwest Jiaotong University School of Geoscience and environment, Department of fire engineering, national and local joint Engineering Laboratory of high-speed railway operation safety space information technology, Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, Central South University, Northeast University, China University of mining, Nanjing University of industry, Changzhou University, China Academy of civil aviation flight, Shandong University of science and technology, and Sichuan provincial emergency management department. Supported by Institute of prevention, Henan Fire Protection Association, Department of architecture and civil engineering, City University of Hong Kong.

The conference was presided over by Dr. Xu Junhua, vice president of the school of Geoscience and environmental engineering. Professor Pu Yun, President of the conference, Professor Zhang Yuchun of the Southwest Jiaotong University and Professor Siuing lo of the City University of Hong Kong delivered welcome speeches on behalf of the organizers, organizers and supporting units of the conference. On behalf of the school, vice president Pu Yun extended a warm welcome to all the experts, scholars and representatives attending the conference, and expressed heartfelt thanks to all the friends who have been giving strong support to the development of the school. Vice President Pu Yun said that fire science and fire protection engineering are important new interdisciplinary subjects in the field of public safety, which are closely related to the protection of people's lives and property safety. Experts and scholars are engaged in this work with great responsibility and significance. Southwest Jiaotong University is willing to work with colleagues around the world to make contributions to the cause of fire science and fire protection engineering.

The conference was reviewed by experts in the same field. 113 articles were included and EI was recommended. The language of the meeting was English. Professor Song Weiguo, Secretary of the fire key laboratory, Professor He Yuanhua, Dean of the school of safety engineering, China Academy of civil aviation flight, Professor Fang Zheng, Wuhan University, Professor Zhang Peihong, Northeastern University, Professor Li Yanfeng, Beijing University of technology, Professor Zhang Jun, Professor Li Kaiyuan, Professor Wang Xinyan, Hong Kong University of technology, Professor Tang Fei, Hefei University of technology, Dr. Gong Liang, Southwest Jiaotong University and other sub venues invited 10 reports and selected 40 oral reports, covering the latest research results in the fields of tunnel and underground space fire, traffic fire prevention, fire dynamics and behavior, structural fire resistance, flame retardant technology, pedestrian flow and evacuation dynamics, clean and efficient fire extinguishing technology, fire risk management, hydrogen safety, intelligent fire protection, etc.

This conference promoted the international academic exchange of fire science and fire engineering, expanded the influence of fire science and fire engineering discipline of our university, demonstrated the strength of fire science and fire engineering of our university, and played an important role in promoting the internationalization strategy and the construction of first-class discipline of our university.
